Just looked at the calendar, and no matter how time conscious I've been, I have kinda missed the fact that Write About Jesus is like, almost tomorrow! (Actually 17 days or so, but still.)
AAAHHHHHH!
Looks like I get to bring a homemade demo again. A full blown, or even quarter blown demo is not in the budget this year. Just bought a car, and thanks to Dave Ramsey's advice, I paid cash for it. Wasn't easy. Kinda hurt writing that check but I have NO CAR PAYMENT! Still, that kinda killed any hopes for a pro demo.
Thankfully I recently bought one of those cool Samson USB condenser mics. At least my slightly off key voice will be clearer than it was in last year's demo. Maybe I can have one of my kids sing for me.
Just in case anybody was wondering, I am still not sure about what songs I'm taking for the competition / critiques (since you are probably sitting back smugly with your song picked long ago and your demo either done or scheduled sometime very soon.) I'm trying to get a cowrite I'm excited about w/ BT done in time. Plus I have two others I'm considering - one a ballad that is done and the other a mid tempo song that needs a new chorus. I suppose the whole "up-tempo and commercial" things is what is helping me stay undecided. I know slow songs have won before (actually only one that I can think of), but I'm still leaning towards up-tempo.
Having said that, I really like the slow one.
Who knows.
