More Geek Speak

Well, blogging from my new Treo is not as groovy as it seems. It appears that I am much too verbose. One post can only have what is allowed in one text message (character wise), so I ended up with a single post that became four rather disjointed posts. Finally cleaned it all up from my laptop, but that defeats the whole purpose, no?

Having been a vocal opponent of convergence, it seems I have changed my mind. I LOVE being able to have both PDA and phone in one tidy little package. being able to sync my existing Palm Desktop info was just icing on the proverbial cake.

One of the most apparent benefits is the ease of capturing ideas, lyrics, hooks, etc. as they occur. Simply turn on my Treo, quickly navigate to the Documents-to-Go program, and type away. For those melodic inspirations that always seem to disappear much too quickly there is a voice recorder. There is the distinct possibility that an entire song can be written (prior to rewriting, of course) and recorded to my phone far away from instrument, pen or paper. It is a musical uber-geek's dream.

Of course, I am a little behind those on the bleeding edge of tech, but remember that those of you that reside in new gadget nirvana got to work out all of the kinks and bugs that are inherent in 1st and 2nd generation gear. Prices went down and I get the benefits.

I suddenly feel a little smug.

Now back to my convergent little corner...
