The Money Pit

Totally loving my new synth/workstation. The manual is around 5000 pages long. Can't seem to find a "For Dummies" version either. Why is it that technical writers can do what they do for a living and still manage to confuse 94.32% of the population AND keep their jobs?

My wife keeps referring to my keyboard as a "toy". Them's fighting words, woman. It is a "TOOL." Granted, an extremely awesome tool that moved me to do backflips while I was opening the box. Even the flying monkey thought I was loony.

The only problem is that every minute I spend learning my way around it is time that I'm not writing songs.

Speaking of problems, this gear thing is a money pit. You can never have enough gear. Studio monitors, mics, pre amps, recording interfaces, acoustic treatments, A/D and D/A converters, power conditioners, EQ's, VST plug ins, and on and on and on. I figure that I only need about a million dollars to get the kit I want. That is until something newer and greater comes out.

My biggest issue right now is that all of the finest recording gear in the world can't save a sorry song. (although I have heard it tried many times.) So I will try to use my time wisely because in the end, the song better fly unplugged.

Nice song selection!

Enjoyed seeing your pastor and Matthew at our church over the weekend. I'd forgotten how good he can preach. They really surprised us today - Darla and I were at the coast for a couple of days and were watching the sunset while we had dinner at an outdoor restaurant at Moonstone beach when this car pulls up...talk about wierd coincidence!

I've enjoyed reading your blog since WAJ and it was great to reconnect with you again after all these years.

Well, it's a good song!

It was good catching up with you @ WAJ. Was going to email you, but I'm not sure if I have the right address...was waiting until after Christmas anyway. Keep in touch!
