Why do people jockey for power and position? Why would someone forsake the very precepts and principles revealed in Scriptures for control of a church's direction? Would those tactics alone negate any "pure intentions" (so-called) for what is best for the Body of Christ?
Don't you think God knows what is best for HIS Church? Has he not already provided us with the framework?
I know we could dive into all aspects of church polity and congregational rule vs. elder rule vs. other ecclesiastical flavors of rule (including my favorite to discuss, the aptly named "Protestant Popery" option.) I'm not going to get into all of that.
I don't quite have the eloquence at the moment to portray my frustration with the whole mess. Case in point - I have been working on this blog on and off since Groundhog Day. (Yes, this is one of my "Hidden Post." I feel brave today. Either that or stupid. This has been edited to protect the guilty.)
Allow me to paraphrase a line I like to use for the industry I work in...
The church would be a wonderful place if it wasn't for the people.
Memo to the humorless - that was said in jest!!! Mostly.
At this point I am concerned with doing the right thing while maintaining integrity through every situation. Never forget that you most likely :-) will have to spend eternity with some of the people that continue to baffle, irritate, and puzzle you.
Thank God for His patience. I would have zapped someone by now.
P.S. the views expressed above have probably entered your mind, but you weren't dumb enough to verbalize them. I was. I'm not trying to be Johnny Raincloud...not everything is bad. I'm not getting bitter. Lighten up a bit and just let me vent. After all, this is my blog.
Now back to my corner...
